Reflecting on what I have learned and the accomplishments I've made, I'm thinking what is it all for?...a paycheck, bragging rights? Those things are nice, but after reading a few pages of Proverbs, its evident that we are to pass on what we know to others and especially our children. But this rarely happens in our society today. In general, people hoard their knowledge for selfish reasons, and most parents don't pass on what they have learned to their children for reasons I will never understand. But maybe its because they themselves did not receive knowledge from their parents which allowed this nefarious cycle to continue for many generations. As someone who has had to learn everything on my own, I promise to train my children up in the way they should go, and especially my son. Since God is speaking to men, I feel its appropriate.
The Proverbs of Solomon the Son of David, King of Israel
1. Apply them to the smallest details of human life- of the wisdom that built the Heavens and the Earth and the Mountains
Why? -to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgement, and equity
2. If you know the Bible, and then receive it's instruction, you will then be able to give the benefit of our knowledge to others
3. A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsel
4. If you know the Bible, the Holy Spirit then considers us "wise" and we will thereby continue to increase learning through His wise counsel
5. Obedience to parents form the foundation of a just relationship to God and man
"My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother"
"My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not, evil enticement fomented by Satan lurks in the path of every young man and young lady"
I thought about the issue of wayward parents that create broken homes when I read this and considered that most children suffer, but with God their lives can be transformed if they find someone Godly to look up to and to guide them
Lets explore the types of Men and People in the world
-The whole of humanity is set apart in two camps: those who follow God-given wisdom (the Bible) and those who reject God-given wisdom and will eventually be cut off from God
Man's problem is "his own way" and "his own devices"
In reality, it is either God's way which brings life, or your own way which brings death
The Bible describes the carnal man as someone who is dominated by the flesh, governed by worldly desires, and operating out of human instincts rather than the Holy Spirit. He's in a fallen state. The natural man is living in their original, unregenerate state without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He relies strictly on human wisdom, instincts, and fleshly desires rather than divine. The spiritual man is supernaturally transformed, indwelt, and guided by the Holy Spirit.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction"
